DESCRIPTION OF OPTIMIZATION SYSTEM
The marking section, which is attached to the transport section, can handle board lengths up to 14.5’ feet long when using the 4.5 meter infeed.
The infeed system consists of a precision, servo-controlled pusher arm that travels along the full length of the board, measuring length, grade zones and defects. The pusher arm automatically positions itself after measuring the board and then precisely feeds the board into the saw unit.
OPTIMIZING CUT-OFF SAW, OPTICUT S-90
The Dimter OptiCut S-90 saw unit uses 2 pneumatically operated side hold-over devices before and after the saw blade. A computer-controlled hold down pressure shoe assembly is also used to ensure that boards are securely held in position during the cut cycle. These hold down and hold over devices and the precision servo-controlled pusher arm provide a square, accurate, and high quality saw cut.
Safety devices on the infeed if activated will stop the machine from operating to prevent operators from any harm from any moving parts or boards. Electrically inter-locked covers and doors protect the operating personnel generally. Access can be gained to the electrical and mechanical sections of the saw unit via electrically interlocked doors and covers.
The outfeed and sorting station is driven by a 2 hp motor and consists of a 10-inch wide belt, 33’ feet long with 5 mechanical kickers. Encoder pulses ensure accurate and efficient operation of the mechanical or air kickers to sort by any combination of length, grade and widths.
Kickers can be used singularly or programmed to kick in twos or threes for the larger heavier boards.
The end of the belt is also a “programmable” sorting station and is used for very long fixed lengths, salvageable finger joint lengths or long waste pieces.
All functions of the OptiCut S-90 such as measuring, optimizing and movement of the saw feed and sorting are controlled totally by the integrated Dimter OptiCom DIRECT. The OptiCom DIRECT control system is fully operational without any external PC’s.
The OptiCom DIRECT has a large TFT 12” color display and touch screen the OptiCom DIRECT is also Window’s CE based.
The OptiCom DIRECT has one external network port available for customers network. This connection can be used for Downloading Orders, Printing Reports, Remote Diagnostics and Service work. A standard CAT-5 network cable is necessary to use this port.
