5 Axis CNC Routers
Five axis CNC routers are extremely unique in the woodworking industry, partly because it takes a skilled programmer and a skilled operator to properly marry the design with the desired outcome.
These machines can be configured in in a large variety of spindle horsepowers and many different style frames and formats. For large workpieces we can apply a moving gantry over the working envelope or apply a 5 axis head to a more rigid moving table style machine. Selecting a 5 Axis machine that is best for your needs and fitting your application can be an extremely complex process. Due to this complexity it is best to select a company like Scarlett Inc. that can customize a solution for you.
Often, there seems to be confusion due to the term “5-axis” machining center. Shops think they don’t have 5-axis work. Every shop has work that would benefit from a 5-axis machine because a 5-axis machining center facilitates 5-sided machining. So, even if you don’t have simultaneous 5-axis work, such as impellers or turbines, the parts you are producing on your 3-axis machines will be more profitable when you use 5-sided machining on a 5-axis machining center.
